Lost Season 4 episode 5: The Constant

OMG, This was by far the best of LOST. It was great, it was perfect, incredible, awesome, revealing, it made sense. Things are finally falling into place with LOST, although I didn't appreciate 100% the fact that time travel is one of the main variables of the show...sounds a lot like science fiction to me. Although there are a lot of theories backed up by mathematical evidence that prove time travel, this still makes time travel a theory. With this episode, it has become evident that Desmond is the most important character on LOST...the whole thing was all Desmond centric and we hardly saw any of the other characters. Another character who has gained prominence with this episode is Daniel Faraday.
SPOILER ALERT!!
As seen in episode 4, Desmond and Sayid had left the island with Frank. While on the Helicopter, they passed the bubble surrounding the island (y 'know, the bubble that keeps the island hidden from the outside world) Desmond experienced some "side-effects", and he suddenly went back to the time when he was in prison. This was the result of the high exposure of electro-magnetism he had received when he saved the world by turning the failsafe key. This passage between the island and the outside world made Desmond experience actual flashbacks to the past. He kept alternating between the present and the past...anyway to make a long story short, Desmond talked to Daniel on the phone and present-day Daniel told Desmond to go talk with Daniel in the past. Past-Daniel told Desmond what was happening to him and he also told him that he would eventually die because his brain could not deal with the stress of time travel. There was one way of saving himself, and that was to find a constant variable present in both the past and the present and make contact with that variable while in the present. That way his mind would anchor itself onto the present reality and thus the flashes backwards in time would stop. It's also important to note that Desmond wasn't being physically transported to the past but rather it was his consciousness that was doing the flashbacks. All this seems very unreasonable to me but I gotta say that I love it and LOST never falls short of pure entertainment :)
Anyway, going back to Desmond's constant: Penny was his constant in the present. There was this whole tear-wrenching scene between the two characters and I can safely say that this was the most romantic episode of LOST so far. In short, Desmond managed to contact Penny (his constant variable) while in the present and this saved his life.
All this has shattered beyond redemption my theory of alternate dimensions, since it's now clear that the island is not in an alternate reality but rather in a warped space-time envelope due to the island's strong magnetic field.
I'm not going to post a preview of this week's episode cos I don't want spoilers of any type...no matter how small and innocent. Well that's it for today. CYA.

Lost Season 4 Ep 3: The Economist

Sorry for not blogging lately...I had problems connecting to the internet. Anyway, what do you guys think of "The Economist"? Unfortunately I did not enjoy this episode so much cos I accidentally read some spoilers before I saw the episode (do not read the comments under YouTube's Lost trailers). SPOILER ALERT!!
Sayid is one of "The Oceanic six", I have to say that I really did not see that coming (that is before I read the spoilers). I was seriously expecting Claire to be an "Island Escapee", mostly because Desmond saw her get on the Helicopter. What was a real shocker was the fact that Sayid is now working as a contract killer for Ben! He mentioned a list of people that Ben asked him to kill, we still don't know why and who. There were some goings on on the island mostly between Jack's group and Locke's group. But personally I don't think that these are of much importance to the overall story. It's worth noting, however, that with this episode, Lost has gone back to Religion Vs Science again, which is pretty cool...Jack's group represents Reason and Science while Locke's represents complete and unquestioning Faith to the Island.
Personally I think that the most important, and overlooked, part of this episode was Daniel's experiment: he asked someone from the freighter to shoot a pod at the island...and it arrived 31 minutes late! I don't know how to tie this exactly with my personal theory (my theory is that the island is in an alternate dimension to ours), except maybe that since the Island may be in an alternate reality/dimension, time on the Island passes much slower than in our reality. This will explain why Alpert doesn't seem to age; maybe since he is moving between realities than he does not appear to be aging that fast. And this will kinda explain why women on the Island don't survive their pregnancies, maybe it's because their biological clock gets completely mixed up while on the island which results in complications. And that's it for today, I haven't watched last week's episode yet, although I have already downloaded it and will watch it today. Anyway, here's a trailer for last week's episode: "Eggtown".

Season 4 Ep 2 - Confirmed Dead

I gotta say this: this week's episode was the best Lost episode ever. It had everything: intrigue, action, new questions, new characters and....SOME ANSWERS!!!!!! FINALLY!!! It started out with an underwater expedition where Oceanic flight 815 was discovered in a trench...how's that possible? Flight 815 crashed on the island it shouldn't be under the ocean. then there are the new characters: Daniel Faraday who is a physicist. There was a flash-back which took us to Daniel's home ; Daniel was watching the news talking about the discovery of the drowned aircraft, and he was crying. His wife (I'm assuming that she was his wife) asked him why he was so upset and he answered "I don't know". I think that this Daniel character might be a bit crazy. Then there is Miles Straume: a ghost buster who cons people for money by supposedly ridding homes off ghosts. The writers want us to believe that he is a real ghost whisperer but I know better (no supernatural, no science fiction, remember?) And then there is Frank Lapidus, he was the Pilot that was supposed to be piloting flight 815 the day it crashed. a flashback takes us to the time when the discovery of Oceanic aircraft flight 815 was all over the news, Frank saw footage of the pilot's corpse, a shot to his hand made Frank realise that this wasn't the actual corpse of the 815 pilot; turns out that Frank knew the pilot and he also knew that he always wore his wedding ring; this corpse had no wedding ring. Finally there's Charlotte Staples Lewis, an anthropologist. When I heard this name I literally sat up bolt straight. Her name is C S Lewis!! The famous writer who wrote the chronicles of Narnia (CLIVE STAPLES LEWIS). The second and last name are the same as the writer's...definitely not a coincidence. This was of particular interest to me because I've always had this personal theory: Lost is dealing with alternate realities. This would explain loads of things: why the 815ers cannot contact the outside world, why no one from the outside world can locate the island. Ben himself said that the island cannot be found on any map. It would also explain why Paolo and Nikki's flashbacks to the day of the crash had different details when we compare them with what we saw in the Pilot episode(what happened in the Pilot episode would have happened in an alternate reality where Paolo and Nikki where not on the plane, or they never existed). It would explain Mikhail's statement when he said that "The Locke I know wouldn't...." (I forgot which episode this was from)...how could he have said that if it was the first time he met Locke? Unless he knew Locke from an alternate reality. It would also kind of explain why an aircraft which seems to be Oceanic flight 815, would be found at the bottom of the ocean when we all know for a fact that it crashed on the island...and the pilot not wearing a wedding ring? Well maybe the pilot from the alternate reality never got married and the writers included this detail to throw us off the right track: by making us believe that it's not really Flight 815 that was found. The connection with Narnia? Narnia was an alternate reality that was accessed when someone passed a magic wardrobe in CS Lewis' novels. But wait! Magic??? Actually science has mathematically proven the existence of alternate realities, so no magic and no science fiction here :)
Anyway, back to Charlotte Lewis, in a flashback we see her at a digging site in a dessert in Tunisia (Medenine) where a skeleton was found. At first I thought it was a dinosaur but then Charlotte identified it as a polar bear, some more digging brought up a collar with a Dharma Logo: the Hydra station!!!! What the f**k is up with that? A polar bear from the Dharma Initiative in the middle of the dessert! Can't wait to see how they'll explain this.
Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, there have been some answers: We now know that Naomi was not lying about the plane being found at the bottom of the ocean, we also know why the people from Naomi's boat have come to the island: To get Ben. Why? I don't know...seems like answers lead to even more questions. I do think that they want Ben dead since Charlotte did not intervene in the least when Locke and Sawyer where going to kill him. well that's it for this week, can't wait for next weeks episode. Peace out ;)
Edit: I've done some searching and it seems like I'm not the only one who thought of the Alternative-Reality theory. click here. P.S. All that I wrote above has been thought of solely by me, any similarities between what I wrote and what you'll read in the link (click here) is a coincidence. Ok?
The following is a trailer of next week's episode: The Economist

LOST Season 4 premiere

I'm kinda new to blogging...so here goes my introduction to this new blog of mine:
I'm an obsessed LOST fan, actually 'obsessed' is a bit of an understatement... lost-freak-who dreams about lost every night...that's a better description hehe. What I like about Lost? Well mostly cos it's such a high concept show: there is so much going on, so many mysteries that never seem to get any answers (though I hope that we'll be getting some answers soon) and the characters are so complex and intriguing. For any one who's been living under a rock these past few years: Lost is a show about a group of survivors from a crashed air plane, who end up on an island. But this is no ordinary island, there are polar bears running around, monsters made out of smoke, mysterious whispers heard in the jungle, visions of the future, dead people coming back to life...and then there are The Others: people who have been living on the Island before the survivors' plane crashed. If you haven't started watching Lost yet, I highly suggest that you do so, you can download them as Torrents or from P2P programs like Ares or eDonkey. or you can buy or rent the DVDs (you'll find seasons 1, 2 and 3 on DVD).
Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse (the executive producers of Lost) have stated that every thing happening on Lost has a logical explanation that does not involve science fiction or the supernatural. This is one of the reasons why I like Lost so much...I really need to know how they're going to explain the smoke monster, Jacob, the whispers and many other things.
Anyway, last Thursday (31st January) was the season premiere of Lost season 4...and I LOVED IT!!! (SPOILER WARNING!!!) I really like the fact that there are now going to be flash forwards since 6 of the characters are going to be leaving the island soon, we know that Jack, Kate and Hurley are 3 of these 6 but we still don't have any idea who the other 3 are...although I do think that Aaron and Claire will leave the island too since Desmond saw them leaving in a helicopter in one of his visions. The flash forwards will deal with the aftermath of these 6 characters leaving the island. Also, Jacob made an appearnce !!! Again! when Hurley stumbled upon his cabin...that was a really freaky scene, I've had nightmares about it. It seems like the guy sitting in Jacob's chair looked a LOT like Christian Shepard! WTF is up with that!? Here's a screen shot that shows exactly what I mean:
Note that the above image has had the contrast increased cos I don't remember the image to be so clear, it was really dark in that cabin. So it could be Christian or it could be someone else. Anyway, in this episode we really did not get any answers, actually I think that there are more questions than ever: who are the other 3 characters who will leave the island? What's the deal with Jacob? Why does Hurley and Jack want to go back to the island? What's the deal with Jacob? What is it that Hurley, Jack and Kate (and possibly the other 3 characters who escaped) are lying about? What's the deal with Jacob? What do the people on Naomi's boat want with the island? (I think that we might get this answer in this weeks epsiode) And WTF is up with Jacob, who is he? Is Jacob real?
I'm just posting a sneak-peek of this weeks episode. Enjoy and check back soon for updates.

Seems like there will be more people from Naomi's boat coming onto the island. Please leave comments.
